Pretreatment of Poinciana regia seeds for improvement in germination

The effect of seed treatment with growth regulator after acid scarification for improvement in germination of Poinciana regia seeds was studied in laboratory condition. Attempts were also made to standardize the method of pretreatments and germination of this tree seed. Acid scarified seed for 100 minutes soaked in 500 ppm GA₃ solution gave 77.40 percent germination at 30 ± 2°C in B. P. method. The Between paper (B.P.) method of germination at 30 ± 2°C temperature was found to be most effective for the germination of Poinciana vegia seed.
