Genetic analysis was undertaken in 10 × 10 diallel progenies (F1 and F2) for yield, its components and oil content in Indian mustard. Dominance type of gene action was most important in the expression of yield per plant while both additive and non additive gene actions played an important role in the inheritance of yield related traits and oil content. High heritability estimates were observed for days to initiation of flowering, seeds per siliqua and 1000-seed weight. Over dominance was observed for all the traits. Population improvement procedure like biparental matings followed by recurrent selection may be adopted for the improvement of yield and its components in Indian mustard.
