Decision Support System for Optimised Reservoir Operation – A Case Study of Ranjit Sagar DAM

Decision Support System is crucial for optimized Reservoir Operation. Present paper briefly describes the case of Ranjit Sagar Dam, an important storage project on River Ravi. The importance of its operation is described in view of Indus Water Treaty, 1960. The efforts made in this direction by the CWC(Hq) and Indus Basin Organization, CWC, Chandigarh in tandem with other departments and most notably with Officers of Ranjit Sagar Dam, Water Resources Department, Punjab are briefly enumerated. The successful conclusion of the efforts and future roadmap is also described.
