Inter Basin Water Transfer for Sustainable Development

Inter Basin Water Transfer is being practiced throughout the world including India to meet the growing water demands. The National Perspective Plan of the Government of India aims at tackling the imbalance of water distribution in the country, both spatially and temporally. This paper discusses the present status of the scheme and analyses the need for water transfer for sustainable development.
