Few years ago rupee was traded at 48 Rs per Dpllar. Now it's floating at 40 to the dollar. Observers and experts have called it the fastest appreciation of the Indian Currency, in the three decades. Questions mayarise, whether this rupee appreciation is good or bad for a country or not. What would be its impact on the global competitiveness of Indian Companies? Should government and Reserve bank of India intervene? Many Experts believe that the rising rupee is the result of India's growing ability to attract global capital. While this creates problems for some companies that earn most of their revenues in dollars, the list include IT giants such as TCS, Infosys and Wipro. It also creates opportunities for Indian firms by making it less expensive for them to acquire overseas assets. In addition; a strong rupee is good for the Indian consumer.
