Emerging stock markets development, growth and global financial crisis: with special reference to India

Securities markets have played different roles in individual countries at different times, reflecting the way they are organized, their relationship to other parts of the financial system, and the effects of government intervention. Many believe that there is a new paradigm in the world of economics, created by computerized Information revolution, which is a supremely virtuous circle of growth, growth and more growth. Alas such suggestions are merely wrong. Recessions or crises will come and go, blotting the economic landscape for many. Similarly, volatility in stock markets will continue to provide boom and bust cycles. In this context the present study analyzes the stock market development growth in emerging economies in general and what extent this global financial crisis impacted the emerging countries, especially India.
