Abstract

Each country in the world is endowed with a unique set of natural and human resources. Utilizing these resources certain goods and services are produced and when the produce exceeds the home needs, they have to be exchanged for those which are scarce at home. This interdependence among countries leads to international trade. International trade faces many hurdles due to political, socioeconomic and cultural differences among countries. For facilitating efficient international business transactions specialized financial services are required. Domestic banks with their vast and varied financial expertise have stepped into the international market to provide international banking sen/ices needed for international traders. Despite several hurdles, going international has opened up great new opportunities and has become a matter of prestige for several leading banks.
