This paper aims at studying factors leading to Patenting in Biotechnology Industries in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. This paper aims to study various factors which lead to patenting among the Biotechnology firms and to identify the main barriers that prevents firms from acquiring patents. It concludes that most of the firms who obtained patents had strong R&D department and foreign offices.
