Dairy is one of such activity to provide employment at its own place. Dairy co-operatives could be suitable instruments for the planned development of dairying in the country which could help to Increase milk production, employment opportunity and to provide remunerative price through organized milk marketing facilities. The study was made to examine the organization and working of G.S.D.U.S. Ltd., Meerut of western U.P. The present study was based upon secondary data related to G.S.D.U.S. Ltd., Meerut. The study showed that the number of organized societies and registered societies have increased during year 2001-02 to 2005-06, which shows the progress of G.S.D.U.S. Ltd., Meerut in the development of the dairy. The study further revealed that the number of female members have decreased from 2001-02 to 2004-05. Thus, there is a need to involve the women in dairying which may be possible through educating the women in the area. The G.S.D.U.S. Ltd., Meerut has played a great role in providing the cattle feed, fodder, seed to Its member and medical facilities to prevent the diseases in animals. Thus, these are incentives provided by G.S.D.U.S. Ltd., Meerut to its members essential for dairy development in the area.
