Assessment of Training Needs and Expectations of Farmers Regarding Various Production Technologies

Training to the farmers helps them to gain more knowledge and skills about recent advances in cultivation which become one of the inputs for increasing the area, production and productivity of crops, vegetables and fruits. The study was conducted in district Bijnor of Uttar Pradesh to find out the training needs and expectations of the farmers about various production technologies. The study showed that the priority assigned to the first rank for plant protection measures in rice and vegetables, and improved varieties of seeds of different crops such as wheat, sugarcane and vegetables. Farmers assigned their priority to plant protection meaures followed by varieties under production of vegetables, whereas, under fruit production, plant protection measures were ranked first followed by fertility management About 60 per cent farmers expressed their views for two days training duration, while 40 per cent of the fanners preferred training before kharif season due to availability of enough time.
