A field trail was carried out at CRC of SVPUA&T, Meerut during Kharif 2006 and Kharif 2007 to find out the bio-efficacy of chemical insecticides and bio-pesticides for effective management of termites. The seven treatments including untreated check were tested in RBD. All the treatments with chemical insecticide i.e., Fipronil 0.3% GR @ 25 kg/ha was found best with minium bud damage of 0.00 & 1.25, cut ends damage of 4.44 & 3.68 and cane setts damage of 4.45 & 3.15 per cent and maximum germination of 45.50 and 46.45 per cent during kharif 2006 and kharif 2007 respectively. This treatment was also recorded best with maximum yield of 78.25 and 76.62 q/ha during kharif 2006 and kharif 2007 respectively and with maximum net profit of Rs. 21112/ha. Among bio-pesticides the treatment with Beauverla bassiana @ 2.5 kg/ha was recorded better than other bio-pesticide with bud damage of 2.59 per cent, cut end damage of 10.37 per cent and cane setts damage of 13.33 per cent and germination of 44.54 per cent during kharif 2006 and the same trend was observed during kharif 2007. This treatment also recorded better than other bio-pesticide with yield of 71.35 q/ha, net profit of Rs. 14300/ha. The highest Cost: Benefit ratio of 12.5 was obtained with the treatment imidacloprid 17.8 SL used @ 250 ml/ha.
