Abstract

Selection can’t be applied on the basis of a single character because most of the characters are polygenic in nature and are influenced by each other. Therefore, it is necessary to study the nature of association of the characters in question with other relevant traits. A study was conducted for estimation of genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation coefficient and path coefficient analysis for minimum TLCV incidence/ tolerance to TLCV and better yield in tomato. Ten parents including four TLCV resistant and six TLCV susceptible genotypes were crossed in a half diallel fashion and the resultant 45 each of F1 and F2 along with their parents were evaluated for yield, its components characters and tolerant to tomato leaf curl virus. Analyzed data revealed that among all the genotypes, H-24, H-86, H-36, DVRT-1, Azad T-6 and IIVR Sel-2 gave promising results.
