Abstract

The investigation entitled “Evaluation of French marigold cultivars under mid-hill conditions of Himachal Pradesh” was carried out at experimental farm of the department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni-Solan (HP) during the year 2007. Fourteen cultivars were sown in Randomized Block Design in a plot size of 1.2 m x 1m and spacing 30 x 20 cm. Leaf area, number of flowers per picking, 100-loose flower weight, flower yield per square meter, seed yield per square meter and carotene content exhibited high coefficient of variation, high heritability and high genetic gain. Flower yield per square meter was positively and significantly correlated with plant height, plant spread, leaf area, seed yield per plant and seed yield per square meter.
