Abstract

Characterization of 62 soybean varieties on the basis of agro-morphological characters led to selection of parents for further hybridization programme. These varieties were evaluated for five morphological (flower colour, pubescence colour, seed coat colour, hilum colour and intensity of pubescence) and twelve agronomical characters (days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, basal node height, basal pod height, plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of nodes per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of primary seeds per plant, grain yield per plant and 100-seed weight). The results revealed that MACS 330, Alankar, SL 295 and PK 472 have been identified as useful donors to get desired segregants for yield and its components.
