Genetic divergence using D2 statistic in sixty three rice genotypes was studied on the basis of 18 yield and quality characters. The genotypes were grouped into 8 different clusters, in which, cluster VII was the largest having 16 genotypes. Highly significant variations were found amongst the rice genotypes with regard to all the characters studied except for kernel elongation ratio. Based on mean performance, genetic distances and clustering pattern, the genotypes; Pusa Basmati-1 and Taraori Basmati of cluster II, Sarju-52, Narendra Usar-3 and Narendra-80 of cluster IV, Badshah Bhog, MTU-7029 and BPT-5204 of cluster VI and Malviya-36, Kanakjeer and Super Basmati of cluster VIII proved to be promising for use in hybridization programme.
