Abstract

The seed protein of fifteen cultivars in advanced breeding lines including three wild species of lentil were fractionated using Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) to determine their banding pattern. The high similarity index (80.0–98.8%) between the genotypes indicated a very close evolutionary relationship among themselves. Some genotypes have unique bands, which may help in identifying them in the germplasm. Several genotypes can also be identified by absence of particular band(s).
