The paper discusses scope of corporate led contract farming in barley and the issues related to productivity in Punjab. Non parametric statistical techniques were used to identify the reasons for farmers’ preference for contract farming and cultivation of two row malt barley. The paper also addresses the issues of contract farming related to perception of farmers with such arrangement. The result indicates that contract farming has a positive impact on popularization of malt barley and its productivity. The socio-economic factors that influenced participation in contract farming were education, experience in agriculture, farm size, sources of information, extension services and seed availability with the contracting agency.
