Progressive Agriculture

A field experiment was laid out in a factorial design during kharif 2005, at College of Agriculture, ANGRAU, Rajendranagar to estimate net returns in rice production using generic model, INFOCROP. Simulated gross returns and net returns as estimated by INFOCROP followed decreasing trend, similar to observed values with delay in planting at an interval of fifteen days from July 15 to August 15. The closer agreement between observed (2.06) and simulated (2.23) profit per rupee investment values showcased good performance by the model and further indicated that July 15 as optimum time of planting in rice as compared with July 30 and August 15 plantings.
