Study of genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) moench)

Okra [Abelmoschus esculenta (L.) Moench] all the homozygous parents were sown during the zaid season at Horticulture Research Centre, Department of Horticulture, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, developed and maintained for using conventional agronomic practices to keep the crop in good condition. Study of morphological in landrace collections was carried out during 2011–2012. The present experiment was conducted with 20 Parents, 51 F₁s and 51F₂ population developed through Line x Tester analysis. An experiment was conducted to study the variability, heritability and genetic advance in important traits of okra for the purpose of genetic improvement and their effect in populations. Twenty (17 Line x 3 Testers) selected genetically diverse genotypes of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) along with their 51 F₁s and 51 F₂s population of these parents were evaluated.
