Abstract

Studies on occurrence and management of pod borer (H. armigera Hub.) in chickpea were carried out at GPB Farm, NDUA&T, Kumarganj, Faizabad and nearby farmers field during Rabi, 2011–12. The occurrence of Helicoverpa armigera was correlated with weather parameter. Larval population showed positive correlation with minimum tem perature (+ 0.384), maximum temperature (+ 0.206) and relative humidity (+ 0.523), at Sidhauna village. In case of Pandepurva and Pithala villages, larval population had positive correlation with minimum temperature (+ 0.500), relative humidity (+ 0.156) and negative correlation with maximum temperature (−0.031). Larval population at Jorium village was positively correlated with relative humidity (+ 0.833) and negatively correlated with minimum temperature (−0.019) and maximum temperature (−0.026). Spinosad 45 SC @ 90 g a.i./ha and it was at par with Indoxacarb 14.5 EC @ 50 g a.i./ha followed by Novaluron 10 EC @ 100 g a.i./ha, in which larval reductions were 75.00, 71.43 and 62.5 per cent, respectively and seed yields were 21.25, 19.31, 18.75 q/ha, respectively.
