Extent of suppression of paddy yellow stem borer by eight selected pesticide formulation (6 chemical pesticides and 2 bio-pesticides) was studied in the field of paddy cultivar Pusa Basmati- 1 during Kharif crop season of 2010 at SVPUA&T Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. Experiment was done following complete randomized block design and had three replications. All treatments were significantly effective in checking stem borer infestation causing the decrease of both dead heart (DH) and white head (WH) number. Numerically, least damage was noted for Fipronil 5 SC. This was followed by cartap hydrochloride 50 SP, triazophos 40 EC, lambda-cyhalothrin 5 EC, cartap hydrochloride 4 G, endosulfan 35 EC, neemarin 1500 PPM and B. thuringiensis. The control plot registered maximum DH and WH. In consideration of yield increase over control, maximum efficacy was registered for fipronil 5 SC followed by cartap hydrochloride, triazophos, cartep hydrochloride, lambda-cyhalothrin, endosulfan, neemarin and B. Thuringiensis, respectively.
