Impact of operational research project for dryland agriculture in Semi-Arid region of Haryana

Abstract

Operational Research Project is a messenger of taking rainfed technology to the farmer's field. It aims at providing an interface between on station research and requirement of farmers. This paper presents the results of technology assessment in semi-arid region of Haryana. The technologies demonstrated on various themes of dryland agriculture at the farmer's field were well received by the farmers and the experience of the farmers shared with other farmers was very much convincing and would help in up scaling of dryland technologies. Organizing field days and scientists-farmers meet helped in dissemination of technologies and knowledge empowerment of the farmers. Impact assessment indicated over 80 percent impact in the adoption of some dryland agriculture technologies.
