The research focused on finding out constraints faced by citrus nursery owners and ascertaining prospects for the containerised citrus nursery. The study was conducted in the Warud, Morshi of Amravati and Katol, Kalmeshwar talukas of Nagpur districts in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The licensed as well as unlicensed nursery owners comprised the respondents ’sample (400).Although the budlings are produced in conventional field nurseries, the produce in the licensed nursery is preferred by the government for distribution to the beneficiaries. The buyers from outside Maharashtra have no such strict preference except the government agencies. Sometimes, the credibility concerns do surface but do not persist longer. The rough lemon as a rootstock is used by 83.75 per cent and Rangpur lime by 3.50 per cent nursery owners whereas 12.5 per cent nurserymen produce citrus budlings on both the rootstocks. If the government offered some concessions and assurance of purchasing some fixed quantum of produce, the nursery owners are willing to shift towards the containerized nursery system.
