The chemical fertilizers are increasing day by day and not affordable by farmers, pressmud has promise as a most economic source of plant nutrient for sustainable crop production and improvement in the physical, chemical and biological (microbial dyanamics) properties of the composts amended soil. The total of six lignocellulolytic fungi i.e. Aspergillus, Thielaviopsis, Rhizopus, Aspergillus, Rhizopus and Penicillium were isolates from sugarcane pressedmud (SPM). The fungal strains were identified for their carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) and dye and by the formation of clear zone diameter. The Aspergillus niger and Penicillium notatum growth and enzyme activity, based on visual observance, isolates gave clear zones of lignocellulolytic activity. The Aspergillus niger is more potent species for the production of lignocellulolytic activity.
