Abstract

A wide range of genetic variability was observed for almost all the characters under study. High heritability as recorded for green fodder yield per plant, days to 50% flowering, plant height (cm.) and dry fodder yield per plant. Genetic advance as percentage of mean was found higher for green fodder yield, plant height and days to 50% flowering. Correlation study among various components characters should showed that plant height (cm), number of branches per plant, leaf length, leaf breadth and dry fodder yield per plant were positively correlated with green fodder yield. In general genotypic coefficient were higher than there corresponding phenotypic correlation coefficient Path analysis showed that dry fodder yield had the highest direct positive contribution towards green fodder yield followed by days to 50% flowering, leaf/stem ratio, number ofbranches, plant height, leaf breadth and leaf length respectively.
