Impact of organic nutrients on yield and growth parameters of Tomato

Abstract

Today global food crisis is one of the major highlighted problems of the increasing population and is playing major role in applying high pressure on food production. To meet this, increasing demand of agricultural produce, farmers are using chemical fertilizers along with pesticides to such an extent that it is degrading the quality and productivity of the natural resources. Organic farming is the right tool for the sustainable agriculture in the changing environmental condition for backing to its original form. The study has been proposed to investigate the impact of organic and inorganic nutrient sources on growth, yield and post-harvest life of tomato. A field experiment was conducted to investigate the morphological performance, yield and shelf life of tomato variety Angoorlata under organic and inorganic nutrient sources. Organic manures exhibited a significant influence on morphological and shelf life of tomato fruit at different storage conditions viz., open at room temperature and at refrigerated conditions.
