This paper gives the survey on different diseases of potato using image processing techniques. Thispaper contents are related with Ph. D. research work on major diseases of potato crop. We are putting allrelevant data and facts related to Ph. D. research work. Authors have reviewed different research papersregarding potato disease detection using image processing. This paper reviewed on image segmentation, feature selection and classification techniques that can be used for potato plant disease detection and analgorithm used for automatic detection. Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.; Family: Solanaceae) is one of thefour major food crops of the world. In many countries, potato serves as their major staple food because ofits excellent nutritional content. It can supplement the food needs of the country in a substantial way asit produces more dry-matter food, has well balanced protein and produces more calories from unit area of land and time than other major food crops. Crop diseases are a major threat to food security, but theirrapid identification remains difficult in many parts of the world due to the lack of the necessaryinfrastructure. Agriculture operation needs automation, among this one disease control. The imageprocessing is the tool used for the recognition and control of diseases.
