Twenty turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) germplasm was evaluated at the Horticultural Research Centre, SardarVallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram, Meerut, U.P. (250110) during Kharifseason of 2020 by objective to D2 statistic to estimate the genetic diversity available in the germplasm. The D2 analysis showed broad diversity among the germplasm and they were grouped into five clusters. The clustering pattern showed that the highest germplasm was recorded in cluster V (9 germplasm) followed cluster IV (4 germplasm), II(4 germplasm), III(2 germplasm) and Cluster I(1 germplasm). The greatest intra-cluster distance was recorded in Cluster IV (2.558) followed by Cluster II (2.530), Cluster V (2.396), and Cluster III (1.807). While, Cluster I having the smallest intra-cluster distance (0.003). Cluster II to Cluster I had the greatest inter-cluster distance (7.175) and cluster V to Cluster II had the smallest inter-cluster distance (3.001). The highest % of contribution was recorded in plant height (10.33%) followed by leaf length (10.21%), number of tillers per plant (9.41%), leaf width (8.80%), days to maturity (8.57%), yield of rhizome per plant (8.55g), weight of mother rhizome per plant (8.28g), length of primary rhizome (7.06cm), number of tillers per plant (6.89), yield of rhizome per plant. The selection of the best germplasm for breeding programmes for the development of high-yielding genotypes.
