The present investigation was carried out with 20 genotypes of Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) at the Vegetable Research and Demonstration Block, College of Horticulture, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar during rabi season of September 2019 to know the nature and magnitude of variability, heritability and genetic advance as per cent of mean for various horticultural traits. The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications. The analysis of variance showed significant variation among different genotypes for all the traits under study. Genotypes Gol Molli, Mino Early White, Hill Queen and Radish Roshni recorded higher root yield and also performed better for other horticultural traits than check cultivar (Japanese White). Genetic analysis indicated that phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) was higher than genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) in all the attributes studied. The phenotypic coefficients of variation (PCV) and the genotypic coefficients of variation (GCV) were found high in root weight without leaves (g). High heritability estimates coupled with high genetic gain were found highest for the character root weight without leaves (g), indicated that these traits are under additive gene effects and are more reliable for effective selection.
