Abstract

A Review On Climate Smart Agriculture (Csa): Recent Advancements, Challenges, And Future Directions

CSA integrates various practices, such as efficient water use, improved soil management, and diversified cropping systems, to achieve these goals. It involves collaboration between farmers, governments, and organizations to implement strategies that are both economically viable and environmentally friendly. Global climate change has posed serious threats to agricultural production. Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is a concept that can provide a solution to the challenges that agricultural development faces. It can do so in a sustainable way by increasing adaptability, decreasing GHG emissions, and ensuring national food security. A review on the recent advancements, challenges, and future directions of CSA will be quite timely and valuable. In this paper, the definition and development goals of CSA are identified. Then, the recent advancements of CSA in developing and in developed countries are reviewed. The existing problems and challenges in CSA are analyzed and pointed out. Finally, the proposals on prospects and directions for CSA in the future are proposed.

Organic farming and reduced chemical use.

Soil conservation and biodiversity enhancement.

Fair labor practices and community engagement.

Overlap: Both CSA and Sustainable Agriculture aim to enhance productivity, maintain environmental health, and support farming communities.

Complementary Goals: CSA's focus on climate adaptation and emission reduction complements the broader environmental and social goals of Sustainable Agriculture.

In essence, CSA can be seen as a subset of Sustainable Agriculture with a specific emphasis on addressing climate change, while Sustainable Agriculture encompasses a broader range of practices focused on overall environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
