Abstract

The present field experiment titled “Impact of Organic Manure on the Growth, Parameters of Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica cv. KTS-1)” was conducted during the Rabi seasons of 2021–22 and 2022–23 at the Horticulture Research farm Department of Horticulture of Chaudhary Chhotu Ram (P.G.) College, Muzaffarnagar (U.P.). The study aimed to evaluate the effects of various organic manures and their combinations on broccoli performance. Thirteen treatments combinations were tested, including T1 Control (Absolute) T2 (FYM @ 60 t/ha), T3 (Vermi Compost @ 20 t/ha), T4 (Poultry Manure @ 20 t/ha), T5 (FYM 75% + Vermi Compost (25%), T6 (FYM 75%+ Poultry Manure (25%), T7 Vermi Compost 75% + Poultry Manure (25%), T8 FYM 50% + Vermi Compost (50%), T9 FYM 50% + Poultry Manure (50%), T10 Vermi Compost (50%) + Poultry Manure (50%), T11 FYM (25%) + Vermi Compost (75%), T12 FYM (25%) + Poultry Manure (75%) and T13 Vermi Compost (25%) + Poultry Manure (75%). Result of the study revealed that plant height was highest in T13, averaging 50.73 cm across two growing seasons, compared to 30.35 cm in the control. Similarly, T13 achieved superior leaf number, dimensions, stalk and root lengths, dry and fresh weights, with a remarkable curd yield of 141.79 q/ha versus 131.09 q/ha in the control. These findings underscore the potential of combining vermicompost and poultry manure to improve crop productivity and nutritional quality, while promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Future studies should investigate the long-term impacts of organic amendments on soil health and their adaptability across diverse cropping systems.
