Absorption of 14C-sucrose by teliospores of N. Indica increased with increasing duration of exposure. However, when inhibitor 2,4-DNP was incorporated to sucrose solution there was significant reduction in uptake of 14C- sucrose was observed. This showed that absorptionis mediated by active phenomenon. Experiment conducted with the uptake of 14C-sucrose by teliospores of N. Indica of different age revealed that absorption of 14C- sucrose increases with increasing age of teliospores, as the maximum absorption of 14C-sucrose was recorded in case of 50 months old teliospores, whereas the minimum absorpUon was recorded with 2 months old teliospores.
