Empowerment of tribal women through their mobilisation in planning and execution of self help groups activities of Udaipur district of Rajasthan state

Our scriptures regard women as the goddess, the incarnation of compassion, provider of food and destroyer of evil. But in practice, women have had to be content with subservient role within the house for centuries. In the present scenario the new concept of "Self Help Group" emerged in the 9th five year plan has certainly brought about group consciousness amcng women. In this direction "Seva Mandir" (NGO) is working for the cause of women's Empowerment with the help of SHGs. The overall study reports that tribal farm women had medium level of involvement in planning and execution of SHFs programme. Level of involvement as expressed by literate respondents was higher to medium as compare to illiterate respondent's medium to lower involvement.
