Abstract

This paper comprises the results of various effects of Diflubenzuron (moultinhibitor) on the Bihar Hairy caterpillar, Spilosoma obliqua Walker. During the course of investigation, the last instar larvae of test insect were fed on the treated Til leaves with the dimilin at different concentrations, 1.0% to 0.015%. This resulted various deformities and weight loss among the larvae. The overall effect of test compound was assessed on the basis of inhibition of adult emergence which was more than 50% even at the concentration of 0.06%. Therefore, Diflubenzuron may safely be included in the pest management programme of Bihar Hairy Caterpillar.
