Gamma rays and EMS induced genetic variability and breeding for yield and yield contribute traits in urdbean (Vigna Mungo L. Hepper)
Abstract
The mean standard errors and coefficient of variation for different characters in three cultivars, namely, Pant PU-30, Pant PU-35 and T-9 of urdbean (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) revealed that the mutagenic treatments had more values than control. The shifting of mean, values was observed in both the directions negative and positive in all the cultivars. All the mutagenic treatments mean CV and SE behaved independently in all the three cultivars. However, irrefutable trend were gained for combination of varying doses of gamma rays with EMS which were found effective for causing induced genetic variability and their use in breeding in urdbean cultivars.
