The tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is one of the important commercially growing vegetables. The experiments wa, conducted to know the optimum dose of fertilizers for hybrid tomato production under central indo-gangetic plains. The treatments were comprised of all combinations of three ievels of nitrogen (60,120 & 180 kg/ha). Three levels of phosphorus (40,80 and 120 kg/ha) as main treatment and two, tomato hybrid viz. Rupali & Naveen as sub plot treatment. The biometric observations included plant height, number of branches, leaf area at different stage of plant growth was influenced by the nitrogen and phosphorus. ‘plant height number of Jeaf per plant and leaf area were height increased with the application of Nitrogen upto 180 kg/ha and 120 kg P205/ha. Hybrid Naveen showed progressive increase in these morphological characters, Application of 180 KgN + 120 Kg.P205/ha proved significantly better during both the years, it gave maximum harvest of 553.1 and 554.1 q/ha during 1991–92 and 1992–93. Hybrid Naveen gave maximum fruit yield during both the years than Rupali.
