Abstract

Two mustard genotypes viz. Krishna and Kranti were treated with different doses of EMS. The M2 seeds in different treatments were divided into two classes i.e. M2 seeds obtained from main fruiting axis of M1) plants (MFA) and M2 seeds obtained from remaining lateral branches of M1) plants (RLB). A comparison of both the classes revealed higher percentage of chlorophyll and viable mutations in M2 generation of MFA than M2 generation of RLB. irrespective of mutagenic doses and varietal differences. Use of MFA seeds is suggested for creating variability and different types of viable mutations.
