Participation of women in live stock management practices in bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh

Abstract

Three blocks and two villages in each block representing Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh were randomly selected to collect information regarding participation of women in different animal husbandry practices. Information regarding land holding, number of animals and labour use pattern showed that land holding was 0.70 to 5.73 ha in different farm category. Live stock population ranged betwpen 1.11 to 1.78, 1.88 to 2.58; 0.07 to 3.20 and 0.07 to 2.00 in cow, buffalo, goat and sheepr respectively. The total hours spent by women labour was 8.00 to 13.00 hour in different farm category in the study area.
