Abstract

The effect of Cr+6 on foliar epiderr.lal pattern of parents and F1 hybrid in barley were analysed. For this, both abaxial and adaxial foliar epidermal surface were examined in control as well as in treated sets. The frequency of epidermal cells, stomata, values of Guard Cell Index (GCI) and pore area were higher of abaxial sides in relation to those for abaxial sides. In most of the Cr+6 treated sets Of pare ts and F1 hybrids of barley the frequencies of epidermal cells, stomata, value of GCI and pore area decreasect in both the epidermis as compared to corresponding controls. The proportions between frequency of epidermis cells, stomata, values of GCI for abaxial epidermis with those for abaxial epidermis were altered in relation to corresponding controls sets. In the treated set of parents and hybrids, different type of structural abnormalities in stomata were obser"ed.
