Five Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L) Czern and Coss.] varieties (Vaibhav, Rohini, Varuna, Kranti and Urvashi) were treated with three levels of sulphur (20, 40 and 60kg/ha.) and zinc (2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 kg/ha.) during Rabi 2003–04 and 2004–05. Among varieties Varuna gave highest performance regarding seed yield kg/plot and kg/ha. with maximum number of siliqua and 1000-seed weight with higher amount of oil content (41.28%). Variety Urvashi performed next to Varuna in terms of seed yield kg/plot and kg/ha. having highest number of primary and secondary branches but oil content was little bit low (40.70%). Highest oil content was yielded by Rohini (41.50%) and Kranti (41.52%). Application of 60kg S and 7.5kg Zn/ha. gave maximum seed yield and quality but benefits of sulphur was more than zinc application i.e. 79.29kg in seed yield/ha. and 0.56% in oil content. Variety Urvashi and Kranti were most responsive to nutrients application.
