The impact of post harvest gap (staling of cane) on weight and certain quality was studied among the twently sugarcane varieties of different maturity groups in plant and ratoon crops. The decrease in mean values of juice, extraction, sucrose, CCS and purity percent of all the varieties in staled cane over fresh cane was recorded in plant and ratoon. Variety Bo 91 showed maximum losses for above quality traits whereas CoS 8436 and CoS 8432 recorded minimum losses in juice extraction in five days staled cane. Variety CoS-90269 and CoS 88216 recorded maximum percent increase in brix whereas CoS 86216 and CoS 767 exhibited minimum loss and CoS 8436 and CoP 84211 suffered higher losses in purity percent in five days staled cane over fresh cane.
