Nutritional Status and Milk Production of Buffaloes in Rural Areas Azamgarh District of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

A six month study during summer season was under taken to ascertain the nutritional status and milk production of buffaloes in different land holding categories of farmers, i.e., landless (No land Group 1); Marginal (upto the Group 11); small (1–2 ha group III) and large (above 4 ha. Group IV) in different lactation i.e., II, III, IV, V groups and VI. Each lactation group indicates for two months of lactation in 300 milking days. The survey was carried out within 20 villages of randomly selected five blocks. The total numbers of milch buffaloes were two -hundred under this study. The average DM, DCP and TDN intakes in different lactation were 12.290 ±0.280, 12.22810.431, 12.210 ±0.394 and 12.180 ± 0.15 for DM; 0.374 ±0.016, 0.360 ± 0.014, 0.335 ±0.018 and 0.312 ±0.020 for DCP and 4.449 ±0.138, 0.586 ±0.130, 4.404 ± 0.122 and 4.246 ± kg for TD in large, small, marginal and small groups of farmers with respect to the average milk production were 20 ±0.167, 4.11 ±0.240, 3.44 ± 0.204 and 3.48 ±0.159 kg in large, small, marginal and land less categories of farmers, respectively and differ significantly (P<0.50) among all categories of farmers.
