Abstract

Crime against women not only shatter lives and families but also reflect the urgent need for society to rise together in solidarity, demanding justice, equality, and a world where every woman can live free from fear and abuse. This study examines the historical context of crime against women and analyses constitutional and legal provisions designed to protect their rights. It also presents a comprehensive analysis of trends of crime against women in Punjab, focusing on three important cities, that is, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana which are working under Commissionerate system. The various categories of crime which have been examined are Rape, Kidnapping and Abduction, Sexual harassment, Cruelty by Husband or their relatives and Insult to the Modesty of Women. The findings underscore the need for targeted intervention strategies and informed policy decisions to enhance women safety and community resilience in these three cities of Punjab.
