Community policing is a relatively new addition to law enforcement which aims to increase the interaction between local police and the people and neighborhoods they serve. The immediate aim of community policing is to mitigate and prevent crime which in turn enhances the faith of community in police. The initiative of community policing is silent revolution towards rising internal insecurities which is considered as one of the biggest threats of present times. This study attempts to understand the concept of community policing and throws light on various initiatives and challenges faced by community policing programs. Further, it provides suggestions to overcome the challenges to make community policing a success.
