e-Governance vis-à-vis Governance: The Bangladesh Context

e-Governance features, in spite of being dazzling and dashing, are lifeless. It is the quality of governance that can lend real life to them. Here, governance is an independent and e-Governance is a dependent variable. Unlike many other techniques, e-Governance holds a magic bullet. However, the bullet has to be put in place and fired in the right direction if desired outcome is to be in place. Despite structural readiness and cultural integration, any progress runs the risk of being turned into quite a myth unless governance is improved. Whatever may be the interpretations and implications of e-Governance, true significance of e-Governance lies in the maxim that it would contribute significantly to making democratic norms and values increasingly powerful and, of course, meaningful.
