District Planning Committee: An Overview

The principle of democratic decentralisation has strengthened district as a nodal point or the general administration and contributed to the welfare of the people. Further, with the creation of district planning committee, the focus of development plan has shifted from macro- to micro-level planning considering district as unit for the execution of development plans. Therefore, the objective of the present study is to review the present role and future expectations from these institutions in a complex set of demographic, economic and political conditions of the contemporary society.
