Abstract

The aim of policing is maintenance of peace, security and reduction of crime and conviction of the offender and ensuring protection in the community. Unfortunately, the number of women police personnel is inadequate in our country. There is need to integrate women police into the mainstream and create conditions for this. It is necessary to considerably enhance the strength of women investigating officers in State Police forces. Women in police, now have to aim to attain professional excellence. Policing might not sound to be an attractive or suitable career for women but their relevance in the police force cannot be undermined.
