The BRICS countries established the New Development Bank (NDB) to provide substantial funding for infrastructure and sustainable development projects in BRICS countries and other emerging economies. The NDB was set up because the other international financial organisations, such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (The Bretton Wood Institutions), are recognised as the banks of developed countries. The NDB authorised loans for a number of projects for the developments of BRICS countries as well as underdeveloped countries of the South World, to improve water systems, transit, and long-term growth projects. The paper talks about the prospects and challenges in front of the NDB, such as monetarily issues, vote sharing, balancing desires of member countries, dealing with complicated geopolitical situations, surety of projects carried out and managed properly, and gaining trust from the different players in the international financial arena. The NDB has shown its dedication to its member countries over time by doing what it was meant to do, for instance in COVID-19. The NDB’s work is very crucial for solving development issues and encouraging global cooperation, which will eventually lead to a framework for sustainability. To make sure that growth and development are open to everyone, the National Development Bank (NDB) must keep pushing for infrastructure development and sustainable initiatives while also meeting the unique needs of developing countries.
