Experimenting with Democratisation in the Modern World

This paper seeks to understand how democracy has unfolded in various societies and what the state of their democratisation is. It is felt that even after democratisation, internal disagreements among the people are denied in the Post-Authoritarian, Post-Communist, Post-Colonial Societies and in African countries for instance this can be seen in some countries of Africa, South America and East Asia. In these countries, media and government institutions are controlled. Corruption is unbridled in governance and administration. People’s participation in governance and administration is diminishing. In this context, this paper is divided into four sections. The first section of this paper attempts to analyse experimenting with democratisation in authoritarian states. The second section of this paper is focuses on experimenting with democratisation in Post-Communist States. The third section of this paper is to examine experimenting with democratisation in Post-Colonial Societies and the fourth section of this paper is to evaluate Post-colonial democratic experience in Africa particularly.
