Through this paper, the authors tried to map out Australia’s relationship with China during three broad eras; before COVID-19, during COVID-19 and after COVID-19. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of where the Australia–China relationship currently stands amidst the coronavirus pandemic, based on its history, and more significantly, what the future of the relationship looks like, in a hypothetical post-pandemic world. For the systematic presentation, this paper has been broken down into three major sections; literature review, methodology and discussion. The question arises that from the past, to present, and even in the nearby future, where the relationships between Australia and China are heading? Are they moving to cooperative or a deteriorating one? This is mystery to some extent as in international politics, relations are formed on the basis of needs of the nation’s especially in the time of COVID-19 pandemic.
